Yesterday I saw a 21 year old Israeli named Noam speak. He was a refusnik, meaning he
refused to serve in Israel's military because of the occupation. He has served jail time
and is part of a growing movement of resistance which is restoring the moral back bone of
his country.
You can find more information about the movement at www.refusersolidarity.net ...
I believe Noam is a good model for U.S. soldiers who object to the war and occupation in
Iraq. Conscientious Objector Stephen Funk comes to mind but I know there are others in
the military who find the war in Iraq to be morally unacceptable and my prayer is that
the resistance reaches critical mass here and now.
